The Music Incident

This is going to be a painful memory to write about. On a rainy day we were playing pickleball in the church. Previously I had nudged Jocelyns phone out of the way when we were playing volleyball so it wouldn't get stepped on and broken. She freaked out and snapped at me to not touch my phone. Another day I was playing music with my phone and Laurel grapped it was going to change the music, I asked for my phone and she wouldn't give it back. The Clarke family culture doesn't respect phone privacy. For me it's inappropriate to grab someone's phone w/out permission and scroll etc. I also didn't want my SA guys to text or call and they see it because it's anonymous. Devon changed my music the day of and it severely escalated. I was so upset that they didn't understand my point of view. Devon and I were yelling at each other. Jocelyn yelled that I don't respect other people's property. I went outside and went to fix the van flat tire. I felt sick to my stomach. Later that day I called Christian and Laurel to apologize. I felt like the Clarke's had their own rules and us "in laws" they would never really part of the family. Christian empathized with me. Laurel's words were kind and soothing saying she never wanted me to feel that way and that she loves me and knows the other siblings do as well.
